At McCarthy Chiropractic Inc, we look at what your body is actually doing, not just where it hurts. Dr. Cheyenne McCarthy, DC, MSc, works with athletes, martial artists, runners, lifters, and active people throughout Temecula and the surrounding communities. As a sports chiropractor, she takes a movement-focused approach to care, looking at how your spine, joints, muscles, connective tissues, and nervous system work together during training and everyday activity.

Hard training can expose movement restrictions that you may not notice during everyday life. Repetitive motions, impact, grappling, lifting, running, and changes in direction can place stress on the body and increase the risk of injuries when your movement mechanics are not keeping up with the demands of your activity.

An Integrated Approach to Athletic Recovery

Your body does not work in isolation. A restriction in one area can change how another area moves. Our approach may combine chiropractic adjustments, double-roller fascial release, and non-thermal phototherapy based on what we find during your evaluation. Whether you are recovering from a sports injury, dealing with repetitive strain, or trying to maintain your mobility between training sessions, we start by understanding what is happening before recommending a treatment plan.

Targeted Athletic Recovery Experiences

Every athlete puts different demands on their body, so your recovery needs are not necessarily the same as someone else’s. Our targeted athletic recovery experiences are designed around common training demands, from martial arts and combat sports to running, lifting, and repetitive strain. Each experience gives us a starting point for understanding what your body needs and selecting the techniques that make the most sense for you.

30 minutes. Built for people who train hard.

The Black Belt Experience was created specifically for martial artists and combat sports athletes. Grappling, striking, takedowns, repetitive drills, and hard rounds can place significant demands on the hips, shoulders, spine, muscles, and soft tissues.

We begin with double-roller fascial release to work through areas of muscular and fascial restriction. From there, a spinal adjustment or targeted joint adjustment may be used when appropriate to address mobility and joint mechanics.

Targeted phototherapy can also be incorporated when indicated. Our green and violet laser and red light therapies use specific wavelengths of light to interact with tissue at the cellular level and may support mitochondrial activity and the body’s natural recovery processes. This is focused recovery care for athletes who want to address areas that feel restricted, tight, or overworked between training sessions.

Sometimes your body gives you a warning before it gives you a more serious problem. A hip that does not quite move. A shoulder that feels tight overhead. A calf that keeps getting irritated on longer runs. A back that feels stiff every time you get under the bar.

Fix Me Up, Coach! Athletic Recovery is designed for those situations.

We assess your movement and look at the areas that may be contributing to your symptoms or changing the way you move. Depending on what we find, your session may include chiropractic adjustments, active fascial release, and phototherapy.

The goal is to support comfortable movement while addressing factors that may be affecting your sports performance or keeping you from training the way you want to. For athletes at any level, incorporating chiropractic care into a broader recovery routine may be one part of maintaining mobility over the long term.

10 minutes. Targeted light therapy for areas of discomfort and soft tissue stress.

Our Phototherapy Healing Session uses red light or green/violet laser therapy to provide targeted, non-invasive support for areas experiencing discomfort, tension, or soft tissue stress.

Depending on your needs, we use specific wavelengths of light designed to interact with tissue at the cellular level. Red and infrared light therapy may support circulation and cellular energy production, while green and violet laser therapy can be used as part of a targeted approach to soft tissue care.

Phototherapy is non-thermal and requires no extended recovery period, making it a convenient option to incorporate into a broader treatment plan. It may be appropriate for areas affected by repetitive strain, muscular tension, or other soft tissue concerns.

This focused 10-minute session is available as red light or green/violet laser therapy, depending on the type of support being considered for your needs.

We determine whether phototherapy makes sense for you based on your symptoms, history, examination, and recovery goals. When appropriate, it may be used alongside chiropractic care rather than as a replacement for other forms of treatment.

How Sports Chiropractic Care Works

There is no single treatment approach that works for every athlete. We provide sports injury care, fascial release, and light therapy to support mobility and athletic recovery.

At McCarthy Chiropractic Inc, we start with a thorough spinal and movement evaluation so we can understand what is happening before recommending care. Whether you are getting back on the mat, preparing for your next race, returning to the gym, or simply trying to stay active without constantly working around discomfort, we are here to help you understand your options.

Visit us at 32605 Temecula Pkwy #218, Temecula, CA 92592, or call (760) 645-3363 to schedule your evaluation and consultation.

Why Athletes in Temecula Choose McCarthy Chiropractic

Your body does not operate in separate pieces.

A restriction in one area can affect how another area moves. A stiff hip can change your mechanics when you run. Limited shoulder mobility can alter how you lift. Repeated compensation can eventually make a sports injury harder to ignore.

That’s why we do not simply chase the painful spot. We consider your movement patterns, training demands, symptoms, and goals when developing your personalized treatment plan.

Sports Recovery

Sports chiropractic is not limited to professional sports. We work with competitive athletes as well as recreational athletes and weekend warriors who want to stay active and support their athletic performance.

Advanced Education

Dr. Cheyenne McCarthy, DC, MSc, brings advanced education and an evidence-informed approach to her clinical work. Her practice focuses on how the neuromusculoskeletal system affects movement, function, pain, and everyday activity, with care that may include chiropractic adjustments, myofascial release, therapeutic exercise, and active movement strategies.

Movement-Focused Care

Our goal is not to promise that chiropractic care can prevent every injury. Instead, we focus on identifying movement restrictions and musculoskeletal concerns that may be affecting how you train, while discussing practical strategies that may support comfortable movement, injury prevention, and staying active over the long term.

For some patients, the benefits of chiropractic care may include improved joint mobility, greater range of motion, and more comfortable movement. Chiropractic care is one part of the healthcare picture, and depending on your condition, we may recommend coordinating with another healthcare professional, such as a physical therapist.

Frequently Asked Questions: Sports Chiropractic

How does sports chiropractic differ from standard chiropractic care?

Sports chiropractic considers how your body moves under the demands of training, competition, and physical activity. While regular chiropractic care may address similar joint and musculoskeletal concerns, sports-focused care also considers your sport, movement patterns, training demands, mobility, and athletic goals.

What are the benefits of chiropractic care for athletes?

The benefits of chiropractic care for athletes may include support for joint mobility, comfortable movement, and musculoskeletal function. Incorporating chiropractic care into a broader recovery plan may also help active patients address movement restrictions while working toward their athletic performance goals.

What injuries can be treated with the Black Belt Experience?

The Black Belt Experience may be appropriate for certain combat-sports concerns, including grappling-related muscle strains, shoulder impingement symptoms, hip flexor tightness, and soft tissue adhesions. We evaluate you first to determine whether this recovery session fits your condition and whether additional care is needed.

How soon after an athletic injury should I seek care?

If you have a new sports injury with ongoing pain, swelling, or restricted movement, an evaluation within 24 to 48 hours can help determine what type of care may be appropriate. Non-thermal phototherapy may be considered during early recovery when indicated, but timing depends on the injury and examination findings.
